Introduction: All Canadian air operators, airports and AMOs will have to get a Safety Management System (SMS) and training, in order to comply with the new Transport Canada regulations. The implementation time frames shall be phased over few years.

July 09, 2007 - Transport Canada Proposed regulatory amendments to increase accountability in the aviation sector through the implementation of safety management systems by airports and organizations providing air traffic services.

Description: The SMS is a systemic approach to the management of safety, that includes the necessary organizational structure, accountabilities, policies and procedures.

ICAO Background: The implementation of SMS in all member States and the industry across all safety-related disciplines, including the commitment by the States to cooperate in SMS implementation was supported and approved at the the Directors General of Civil Aviation Conference on a global strategy for aviation safety  in March 2006, as per the Report Document 9866. SMS based on Annex 6 part 1 & 3, Annex 11, Annex 14 volume 1 and Document 9858/9859.

Strategic Objectives of ICAO for 2005-2010: Safety, Key Activity, Support the implementation of safety management systems across all safety-related disciplines in States under the following:

  1. Training on SMS implementation

  2. Harmonized SARPs and guidance material on safety programmes and SMS

  3. Development of performance-based safety management provisions

Description of course and/or implementation in your company: A training of 3 intensive days in class, developed and designed to air operators, airports, AMOs and organizations providing air traffic services,  (personnel working in the safety). The SMS is a systematic, explicit, comprehensive and proactive process for managing safety risks that integrates operations and technical systems with financial and human resource management to achieve safe operations. Duration: 3 extensive days
Prerequisites: none
Training alone in class: $595 (applicable taxes to be added)

Implementation alone: $6,500 (applicable taxes to be added)
Implementation is divided in 4 phases, minimum of 3 months each, can be done within 6 months.

Price for training & implementation in your company (save 15%) until approval by your national civil aviation authority: $5,525 (applicable taxes to be added). Training for up to 3 participants of your company.
 

On-site training
